Puerto Rico is the heart of Caribbean mainly for its beauty. It is an unincorporated territory of United States with 78 municipalities. San German is one of them. Juan Ponce de Len y Figueroa, a Spanish explorer who was the first governor of Puerto Rico founded this town.

History
Juan Ceron, took the governorship from Juan Ponce in 1511. The town that was founded by Juan Ponce did not exist at the time of Juan Ceron as it was destroyed by French corsairs. Juan Ceron then in his period created a Christian township by the name of San German. French Corsairs kept attacking the town and made it impossible for the people to live in it so most of them had to move out. Later, it was decide that both San Germans and people of Santa Maria de Guadianilla should unite against the attacks. It was then again built but on the hills of Santa Marta in 1573. The official name if this town was Nueva Villa de Salamanca, although it was not accepted by the public and was changed to San German el Nuevo.
Architecture
San German is well known for its ancient architecture and that it gives a touch and aroma of an artistic environment. Many reputable artists of Puerto Rico have originated from this town. The most vibrant attraction of San German is the number of historical buildings it has which entices people into the town. Mostly tourists visit San German to experience vacation packages the charm of the old world's brilliant architecture.
Among many famous buildings, the Gate of Heaven "Porta Coli" Church remains the centre of attention of most tourists. It is among few oldest churches of all time. Today it is preserved in the form of a museum.
San Germn de Auxerre, a Spanish church which was rebuilt after the earthquake. Since then repair work on this church has been continuous. The most lavish interior of the church is worth looking at. The church is a beauty in itself. Tourists get fascinated with work done on the ceilings. The church is among many other historic places that are listed in the "National Register of Historic Places".
The main tourists' attraction is the rich historical architectures of the city. You will have to discover most of the city on foot so make sure you get yourself pairs of shoes. Transport is limited and you will find good traffic at day time.
